John and Hayley

Categories: Wedding Photography, Photography

So for my final wedding of the summer I headed off to the John, the groom's parents house. Once again working with Tim, I was assigned working with the groom and groomsmen as I often have to help them get ready with pocket square folding, flower pinning and gently suggesting a drink to calm the nerves. They also tend to enjoy my sense of humour so when we got to the church SUPER early with John, his best man and his dad, I didn't have a choice when I was bought a drink in the nearby, albeit slightly shady pub.

Once we got to the church, I started shooting the guests as they arrived, but a problem struck when the groom's mum had gotten lost and she had all of the button holes and the rings! It was okay though, Tim spent the time shooting the bride away from the church and time passed quickly inside with all the guests chatting and laughing amongst themselves.

Soon the Groom's mother arrived, a little flustered but there was no worries as Hayley made her entrance shortly after.

Churches often tend to provide a beautiful backdrop but are frightening to shoot in, there are huge differences in light quality and quanity and if you're not careful any footfall can echo loudly. I'd like to think I've become quite a ninja in shooting in churches especially over the past summer! Tim once even asked me (as he shoots from the back) why I was hiding behind a flower arrangement! I wasn't, I just wanted to get the best shot but the flowers were in my way!

It was a lovely warm but blustery day, so after a few shots outside of the church we headed off to the reception venue. We let everyone settle in with drinks and then started on the group and bride and groom shots. The venue provided a lovely backdrop for the shots, with a babbling river and a HUGE famous tree.

After shooting the speeches, the bride and groom had organised a little picnic dinner for Tim and I, so we were able to sit in the gardens all quiet as the sun was going down. We were also presented with a huge plate of the leftover chocolate coated strawberries that were left over by the guests!

I headed home after that as Tim would be covering the evening on his own, having a little downtime before heading off was different but also great to discuss and decompress on the day.
