Pinups and Cars - Wayne and Lizzie
Tweet
I've known Lizzie for a while in her burlesque persona and she is a beautiful person inside and out. When she and her fiance Wayne asked me to photograph their wedding I knew it was going to be something special.
As well as Lizzie's love of vintage, they both love cars (Volkswagons specifically), Wayne works for a tool company and they both adore metal music.
I had the ever wonderful pleasure of working with Ms Moo Makeup and Lucille's Locks, we make great team on wedding days!
The ceremony and and reception were at the beautiful Breadsall Priory. We were able to get on top of one of the roofs for the group photos and for the couple portraits we were driven around in a golf cart, it was so much fun! The areas surrounding the Priory were beautiful and perfect for photographing. Wayne and Lizzie were absolutely amazing, there were tears, laughter and they embodied such a romantic love that was a sheer pleasure to capture.
Assisting was from the ever wonderful and amusing John/Spike from Vapour Trail Photography.

As you can probably tell, I love photographing families.
A long standing friend Andy, booked in a photoshoot for his other half Jenny and her daughter Kitty. He also booked in the ever amazing Ms Moo Makeup for her skills and Kitty LOVED getting dressed up like her mum.
Such a wonderful shoot with a gorgeous pair of ladies!

Weddings are a circus - Jeff and Katie
Tweet
I've held off on blogging this wedding for a while now but finally I can share with you Jeff and Katie's wedding!
We were waiting for it to be published on the famous Rock and Roll Bride blog, you can read more here.
Even though Katie Abey is based just outside of Nottingham, I was initially introduced to her work through Sugar and Vice who collaborated with her on an amazing collection based on her hand drawn characters.
Since then, we've met up, worked together and chatted lots and I've photographed most of the items she sells through her etsy store. Through this I met her fiance Jeff and I was over the moon when they hired me to photograph their wedding. I knew straight away that this was to be no ordinary wedding!
Jeff and Katie are both bright and colourful, and some of the most creative people I know. The wedding was held at Jeff's family home, which they had licenced for marriage specifically for their wedding. Wingfield Hall is beautiful with amazing grounds and views, but where would they have the reception? In a multi coloured circus tent of course!
Arriving on the big day, I could not help but run around and photograph all of the amazing details of the wedding right down to the very last pinwheel. It was one of the most fun wedding days that I have ever been part of, definitely not a day for black and white images. There is far too much to list so I'll shut up now and let the photographs do the talking!

Wedding Inspiration
Tweet
Being a wedding photographer gets quite hectic, so any time that I have to collaborate with my amazing friends who are also within the industry is a great joy!
In April, myself, Ms Moo Make-up, Lucille's Locks and Booboo Kitty Couture got together to photograph a stylised wedding shoot along with some work by the wonderful GGs Pinup Couture. We had some amazing plans including woodland and Aislinn's horse but, unfortunately, the weather was not on our side so we had to abandon the location in favur of shooting in the studio.
Even though we didn't manage to carry out our full vision, I think we got some great images to show off our collective talents and why we always recommend each other to clients. We call ourselves the "Dream Team" because we not only work well together but our seperate businesses all come together to create a beautiful outcome.

Damien and Jo

Back to blogging!
Keep yoour eyes peeled for all the catch ups from last year and leading into next but for now, let's begin where last year began with the lovely wedding of Damien and Jo!
Back in January last year finally came the big day for Damien and Jo, It had seemed like such a long time coming after our first meeting!
You might remember their engagement shoot which they used for their invites, and that was when it all started to get very exciting!
When the day came, Jo and Damien had chosen my largest package which meant including an assistant, John, to photograph the groom getting ready. I find that it means I get to to spend more time with the bride and the whole day is covered from pretty much every angle!
Obviously with it being January, there were concerns over the weather. It did rain a little bit but generally the day was dry if a little windy. I got to work with Ms Moo Makeup and Lucille's Locks again which is always a great team! We bounce off each other wonderfully and were all there to make the bride look and feel as great as possible. Jo started to get a little stressed the nearer it got to the ceremony so we even made her bounce on the bed to laugh and calm a little!
The ceremony and indeed the whole day reflected a cool, wintery and calm feeling with light blue colour scheme, fluffy coats, glittery shoes and cute little blue birds everywhere.
The evening was a fun and joyful time with a wonderful singer who had been an amazing master of ceremonies all day for us, there was lots of dancing, a caricaturist cotton candy. Kids and adults alike had the greatest time and what a great way to kick of a year of weddings!!

Ashley and Leda
Tweet
Most of my wedding clients find me through referrals, but Leda is one of the few that found me through my website.
In the lead up to the day, Leda also contacted me about a makeup artist which of course I referred Sali at Ms Moo Make-up.
Working with Sali on the morning of a wedding is always a joy as we team up brilliantly. Other than photographing Leda getting ready, the morning was spent photographing her two gorgeous dogs and the two small bridesmaids spinning around blowing bubbles.
We headed off to St Mary's Church in Clifton where Ashley was waiting, looking a little nervous!
The ceremony was a beautiful little traditional wedding but unfortunately as it came time for the couples portraits the clouds descended and the rain came!
As always, I'd had the foresight to check the weather and brought my umbrellas! Ashley and Leda were happy to still have their photographs done outside and they came out great, giving a lovely atmosphere and story to the images.
But, just as quickly as the rain had appeared, it lifted and we could travel to the reception with the top down on the convertible car driven by Leda's bridesmaid!
We arrived at the Canalhouse in Nottingham for the reception, which works so well as a venue!
After dinner, the speeches were gorgeously heartfelt and the first dance was beautiful.
All in all a wonderful day, and even though I am no longer a good weather jinx, it just shows you don't need sun to have a perfect wedding day.

Elouise Makes
Tweet
Working with other small businesses gives me the warm and fuzzies so I was over the moon when I was contacted by Rosie of Elouise Makes to photograph her products and collections. Elouise Makes creates small, handmade items of jewellery from recycled precious metals. These are usually in the form of little animals, the most popular being her dogs and cats.
As part of the shoot, the items were to be modelled, Rosie also included Sali of Ms Moo Makeup and Sarah of Pin-up Curl in the day to make the images look their very best!
These images now form the basis for Rosie's website for Elouise Makes and I'm proud to say that they fit her branding perfectly.

VEA Designs
Tweet
Last year, I had the pleasure of working with a number of small businesses to put together an amazing photoshoot at Langar Hall in Nottinghamshire.
The photoshoot was for VEA designs, Vicky makes amazing hats, fascinators and head pieces for events and weddings with a country life feel to them. We spent a lot of time on Pinterest putting together inspiration for the shoot, making sure we were all on the same page. Turns out we were!
On the day, things flowed amazingly smooth, the venue was wonderfully accommodating and the women that I worked with are all super friendly and talented.
I think the outcome speaks for itself ad I can't wait to see these images in print!

Justin, Zoe and Baby Bump
Tweet
I first met Zoe at a Flashes and Lashes Hen Party as a guest of the hen. A very cute and giggly one I was super happy to meet Zoe again when she joined my Roller Derby team. It was shortly after, that Zoe approached me to photograph her wedding to Justin. She explained that she wad very nervous about being photographed and, as I had shot her before she would love for it to be me as I made her feel calm and comfortable.
As the months went by in the run up to the wedding, much to Justin and Zoe's surprise they announced that they were expecting and that Zoe would be around 6 months pregnant on the wedding day. To me, that was no problem at all so I was happy to join in Zoe and Justin's excitement!
This was the second wedding I've photographed this year at Wollaton Hall so I had a good idea of the set up and that the planners have military precision so I was glad when I got my printed up time table.
On the morning of the wedding, I headed to their house where Zoe, her mum and the bridesmaids were getting ready. Zoe buzzed about making sure that everyone was taken care of making tea, coffee and lunch, I think we managed to get her to sit down for a total of 30 minutes to get her hair and make up done!
I rushed off to Wollaton Hall to catch Justin and the guests arriving and then Zoe. It was a bit of a blustery day and Zoe's veil flew off and I managed to dash and catch it! We headed inside and the ceremony went off without a hitch.
After that, the rest of the day was super relaxed, we breezed through the group shots and then it was time for dinner. The tables had the cutest sweetie centrepieces and Zoe even sorted me my own sweets as I couldn't eat the table ones.
After dinner the drink continued to flow and lots of dancing. I was so grateful to be part of a wonderful day.
