Jenny and Kitty

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

As you can probably tell, I love photographing families.

A long standing friend Andy, booked in a photoshoot for his other half Jenny and her daughter Kitty. He also booked in the ever amazing Ms Moo Makeup for her skills and Kitty LOVED getting dressed up like her mum.

Such a wonderful shoot with a gorgeous pair of ladies!

Lydia

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography, Newborn

Didn't I tell you this time last year was full of newborns?!

Next up is the gorgeous Lydia and her beautiful big sister Aubrey (and Mum and Dad of course!). Out of the two Aubrey was the least co-operative as is the way with toddlers but a promise of ice cream worked a charm and we got some great images. I'm always happy to visit clients homes to photograph their little ones. Doesn't Lydia look cute in her "Very Hungry Caterpillar" outfit?

Abigail Newborn Shoot

Categories: Photography, Product Photography, Newborn

For some reason, this time last year was a boom for newborn babies!

I popped over to see little newborn Abigail, who was just 8 days old at the time, to take some pictures of her settling into her new home with proud mum and dad.

Newborns are very sleepy at this stage so it's pretty easy to get images of them looking relaxed and content. As ever though, children dictate the photoshoot so there was some time with feeding and changing. Dad was determined to get a shot of her in his NFL Lions jersey though!

What a wonderful way to commemorate the birth of your tiny human!

Gracie

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

I met Martin and Zoe many years ago through roller derby.

At the time they weren't together, they were best friends, so when they announced their relationship we I squealed with happiness. Then after that, little Gracie came along and I swooned at her cute little face. So when Martin asked about booking me for a shoot for the three of them I was so excited!

Gracie was an absolute star during the shoot and I'm sure you'll agree, her pout is to be envied!

Wedding Inspiration

Categories: Wedding Photography, Photography, Fashion, Portrait Photography, Clothing, Make Up, Wedding

Being a wedding photographer gets quite hectic, so any time that I have to collaborate with my amazing friends who are also within the industry is a great joy!

In April, myself, Ms Moo Make-up, Lucille's Locks and Booboo Kitty Couture got together to photograph a stylised wedding shoot along with some work by the wonderful GGs Pinup Couture. We had some amazing plans including woodland and Aislinn's horse but, unfortunately, the weather was not on our side so we had to abandon the location in favur of shooting in the studio.

Even though we didn't manage to carry out our full vision, I think we got some great images to show off our collective talents and why we always recommend each other to clients. We call ourselves the "Dream Team" because we not only work well together but our seperate businesses all come together to create a beautiful outcome.

Damien and Jo

Categories: Wedding Photography, Wedding

Back to blogging!

Keep yoour eyes peeled for all the catch ups from last year and leading into next but for now, let's begin where last year began with the lovely wedding of Damien and Jo!

Back in January last year finally came the big day for Damien and Jo, It had seemed like such a long time coming after our first meeting!

You might remember their engagement shoot which they used for their invites, and that was when it all started to get very exciting!

When the day came, Jo and Damien had chosen my largest package which meant including an assistant, John, to photograph the groom getting ready. I find that it means I get to to spend more time with the bride and the whole day is covered from pretty much every angle!

Obviously with it being January, there were concerns over the weather. It did rain a little bit but generally the day was dry if a little windy. I got to work with Ms Moo Makeup and Lucille's Locks again which is always a great team! We bounce off each other wonderfully and were all there to make the bride look and feel as great as possible. Jo started to get a little stressed the nearer it got to the ceremony so we even made her bounce on the bed to laugh and calm a little!

The ceremony and indeed the whole day reflected a cool, wintery and calm feeling with light blue colour scheme, fluffy coats, glittery shoes and cute little blue birds everywhere.

The evening was a fun and joyful time with a wonderful singer who had been an amazing master of ceremonies all day for us, there was lots of dancing, a caricaturist cotton candy. Kids and adults alike had the greatest time and what a great way to kick of a year of weddings!!

Jez and Chole

Categories: Wedding Photography, Portrait Photography

Jez and Chloe were referred to me through Lucille's Locks, Lucille and Chloe were childhood friends and Lucille was also one of the bridesmaids!

Unlike most of the weddings I cover, Chloe wanted my coverage of the day to start at the church, so I met Jez and his best man at St Michael's in Breaston, Derbyshire before the guests started to arrive. It was a great opportunity to get some shots of Jez and the wonderful styling of the wedding party. It was a country style theme with beautiful wild flowers with hessian and tweed.

Chloe arrived in a beautiful vintage convertible, driven by her dad who then walked her down the aisle. The ceremony was super sweet and then we popped into the church grounds for group photographs and couple portraits.

Chloe and Jez then drove away in a beautiful camper van to meet us all at Donnington Park Farmhouse Hotel where we shot more photographs of the bridal party and the newly-weds before the wedding guests all sat down for the wedding breakfast.

I adore the styling of this wedding, and the combination of that with the brickwork and fields at Donnington Park Farmhouse Hotel made for some fabulous images.

Ashley and Leda

Categories: Wedding Photography, Photography, Portrait Photography

Most of my wedding clients find me through referrals, but Leda is one of the few that found me through my website.

In the lead up to the day, Leda also contacted me about a makeup artist which of course I referred Sali at Ms Moo Make-up.

Working with Sali on the morning of a wedding is always a joy as we team up brilliantly. Other than photographing Leda getting ready, the morning was spent photographing her two gorgeous dogs and the two small bridesmaids spinning around blowing bubbles.

We headed off to St Mary's Church in Clifton where Ashley was waiting, looking a little nervous!

The ceremony was a beautiful little traditional wedding but unfortunately as it came time for the couples portraits the clouds descended and the rain came!

As always, I'd had the foresight to check the weather and brought my umbrellas! Ashley and Leda were happy to still have their photographs done outside and they came out great, giving a lovely atmosphere and story to the images.

But, just as quickly as the rain had appeared, it lifted and we could travel to the reception with the top down on the convertible car driven by Leda's bridesmaid!

We arrived at the Canalhouse in Nottingham for the reception, which works so well as a venue!

After dinner, the speeches were gorgeously heartfelt and the first dance was beautiful.

All in all a wonderful day, and even though I am no longer a good weather jinx, it just shows you don't need sun to have a perfect wedding day.

James and Leigh

Categories: Wedding Photography, Photography, Portrait Photography

Often, when assisting Tim, his wedding clients are more likely to have traditional style weddings but in the case of James and Leigh, their style more closely matched those of my clients.

When I saw their sign saying “Geek and Half-Pint”, I knew it would be a wedding where I was in my element.

As usual, while Tim attended to the bride getting ready, I was tasked with capturing the images of the groom getting ready.

We arrived at Donnington Park Farmhouse Hotel in Derbyshire, a venue I have shot at so many times now they're used to seeing my face, and I headed up to spend some time with James as he had one of the rooms on site.

After a little while with James, a laugh and joke on while moving furniture around to get the best shot, I headed back to meet Tim and photograph the guests arriving.

As a change of pace, Tim decided to take the front of the ceremony while I shot from the back of the hall. Usually, I take point during the ceremony as my camera has a quieter shutter than Tim's although he will still remind me at every opportunity that his Nikon is better than my Canon...

After the ceremony, and dodging the light showers we managed to get the group photos and my favourite part, the confetti throwing.

James, Leigh, Tim and I all went for a wander to get the couple portraits, and as the rapeseed was out in full force, it made a beautiful yellow background for the images.

After dinner, the speeches were hilarious and everyone was smiling and laughing. I captured one of my favourite images of the year, James and Leigh laughing together, it just encapsulated the day perfectly.

Mycroft

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

Remember the wedding last year of Zoe, Justin and Baby bump?

Well, welcome to the world Mycroft!

Such a cute and animated baby, Mycroft had us all laughing with his little facial expressions. As with photographing most babies, we got a good mix of him awake and asleep so it was lovely to see both sides of him. Lots of cuddling and giggles all round.

Elouise Makes

Categories: Photography, Fashion, Portrait Photography, Product Photography

Working with other small businesses gives me the warm and fuzzies so I was over the moon when I was contacted by Rosie of Elouise Makes to photograph her products and collections. Elouise Makes creates small, handmade items of jewellery from recycled precious metals. These are usually in the form of little animals, the most popular being her dogs and cats.

As part of the shoot, the items were to be modelled, Rosie also included Sali of Ms Moo Makeup and Sarah of Pin-up Curl in the day to make the images look their very best!

These images now form the basis for Rosie's website for Elouise Makes and I'm proud to say that they fit her branding perfectly.

Donna and Ebony

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

When Donna approached me about a photoshoot with her and her daughter Ebony, I was delighted. I love photographing children and babies and when Donna explained to me that she had not been able to get images with Ebony when she was first born, I was excited to be given that honour and responsibilty.

Donna loved the images so much so that she booked another shoot in less than a year later. I hope to see more of Donna and Ewan and to watch the beautiful Ebony grow up.

VEA Designs

Categories: Wedding Photography, Photography, Fashion, Portrait Photography, Clothing, Make Up, christmas

Last year, I had the pleasure of working with a number of small businesses to put together an amazing photoshoot at Langar Hall in Nottinghamshire.

The photoshoot was for VEA designs, Vicky makes amazing hats, fascinators and head pieces for events and weddings with a country life feel to them. We spent a lot of time on Pinterest putting together inspiration for the shoot, making sure we were all on the same page. Turns out we were!

On the day, things flowed amazingly smooth, the venue was wonderfully accommodating and the women that I worked with are all super friendly and talented.

I think the outcome speaks for itself ad I can't wait to see these images in print!

Damien and Jo Engagement Shoot

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography, Pet Photography

Looking forward to next year, Damien and Jo have booked their wedding with me for January 2016 as as part of their wedding photography package they get an engagement shoot. They decided that they wanted to use the images as part of their “Save the Date” cards.

So off we trotted to Bestwood Country Park in Nottingham with their two little JackChi's in tow, Millie and Mojo.

It was a lovely and relaxed day, lots of beautiful scenery and a gorgeous colour palette for the images.

The “Save the Date” cards look amazing and can't wait for the wedding itself!

Portraits galore

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

It's been a busy month or so in the Luna Studio! In November, I offered out a £20 photoshoot deal with two retouched images as I did last year. Last year there was a couple of shoots, this year I was overwhelmed at the amount of interest in the offer!

In the studio I had lots of doggies, little baby Santa Clauses, twins in reindeer onesies and Christmas jumpers, I've also sold a lot of gift cards so I can't wait to see what January has in store.

Merry Christmas from Luna Photography and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Sugar and Vice - The Witching Hour

Categories: Photography, Fashion, Portrait Photography

I love working with Sugar and Vice!

I found them, like many, on instagram and was instantly drawn to their amazing and original designs. When they put out a call for a product photographer I obviously jumped at the chance. Over time I have seen the most gorgeous jewellery come through the studio, wanting to keep every piece!

Most recently, I shot not only the product photographs for their newest collection, “The Witching Hour”, but I was also hired to shoot promotional images with a model.

As the lovely Frankii Wilde was visiting at the time I couldn't resist using her in the images. The idea was a modern twist on a witch, taking influences from American Horror Story (mainly the huge hat!).

Such a simple set up, white wall, kick ass model and flash gun.

Can't wait to work on the next collection, I'm sure you'll love it as soon as you see it too! Check out their site and I guarantee you'll want to spend with them.

Recently I had the great pleasure of a second photo shoot with the gorgeous little Flynn and his mum Charlotte.

It's amazing to see how much he's grown, he's such a little character! You can see the images from his first shoot in my gallery.

Mini Geek Boutique

Categories: Photography, Fashion, Portrait Photography, Clothing

There are many people now who claim to be geeks, but what about when you have a little geek of your own?

Tracy, the great mind behind Mini Geek Boutique, found that she couldn't fulfil the need for geek based clothing for her son Toby so she decided to stat up a business and make her own!

Tracy is inspired by Comics and films but also touches on the areas of computing, maths, role play and space. This means that not only are her clothing and gifts fun but also informative and educational. The best thing of it all is that most of her designs can be personalised because I'm sure the young padawans are going to be more excited about getting dressed in the morning if their jacket has their name on it!

Working with kids on photoshoots isn't easy, but Tracy was clear that she didn't want the photos to be "too posed". The idea was to let each little personality shine through. So, as you can imagine, there was lots of running, jumping and face pulling.

We all had a brilliantly fun day and the images show that.

Not only can you find Mini Geek Boutique online but you may see Tracy out and about at your local comic convention!

Actor Headshots - Phantom of the Opera

Categories: Photography, Portrait Photography

When I first started photographing, my main forte was live performance. At the time it was mainly bands and live music which turned moved onto dance and events.

After a while, my business turned to portraits and weddings but I still kept photographing live events as a hobby.

Earlier this year, I was asked by a friend I would photograph the dress rehearsal of their amateur production of Phantom of the Opera which I jumped at the chance to do. I'd never see Phantom before and I have to say, I was blown away by it. The performance was wonderful and I'm not ashamed to admit I even shed a little tear!

The guys loved the images and I was happy (and unsurprised) to hear that they had sold out all of their shows. So much so, the show was asked back for another run last month.

The producer sent me a message a couple of days before the shows started a little flustered asking if I wouldn't mind shooting cast head-shots for the programme. Having shot actor head-shots before I had no problem with this and we quickly booked in for the following day.

The set up was a simple two light, white background and the final images presented in the traditional black and while.

I heard that this run of performances was even better than the last and I would recommend anyone that hasn't seen the Phantom to do so!
