Pinups and Cars - Wayne and Lizzie
Tweet
I've known Lizzie for a while in her burlesque persona and she is a beautiful person inside and out. When she and her fiance Wayne asked me to photograph their wedding I knew it was going to be something special.
As well as Lizzie's love of vintage, they both love cars (Volkswagons specifically), Wayne works for a tool company and they both adore metal music.
I had the ever wonderful pleasure of working with Ms Moo Makeup and Lucille's Locks, we make great team on wedding days!
The ceremony and and reception were at the beautiful Breadsall Priory. We were able to get on top of one of the roofs for the group photos and for the couple portraits we were driven around in a golf cart, it was so much fun! The areas surrounding the Priory were beautiful and perfect for photographing. Wayne and Lizzie were absolutely amazing, there were tears, laughter and they embodied such a romantic love that was a sheer pleasure to capture.
Assisting was from the ever wonderful and amusing John/Spike from Vapour Trail Photography.

Weddings are a circus - Jeff and Katie
Tweet
I've held off on blogging this wedding for a while now but finally I can share with you Jeff and Katie's wedding!
We were waiting for it to be published on the famous Rock and Roll Bride blog, you can read more here.
Even though Katie Abey is based just outside of Nottingham, I was initially introduced to her work through Sugar and Vice who collaborated with her on an amazing collection based on her hand drawn characters.
Since then, we've met up, worked together and chatted lots and I've photographed most of the items she sells through her etsy store. Through this I met her fiance Jeff and I was over the moon when they hired me to photograph their wedding. I knew straight away that this was to be no ordinary wedding!
Jeff and Katie are both bright and colourful, and some of the most creative people I know. The wedding was held at Jeff's family home, which they had licenced for marriage specifically for their wedding. Wingfield Hall is beautiful with amazing grounds and views, but where would they have the reception? In a multi coloured circus tent of course!
Arriving on the big day, I could not help but run around and photograph all of the amazing details of the wedding right down to the very last pinwheel. It was one of the most fun wedding days that I have ever been part of, definitely not a day for black and white images. There is far too much to list so I'll shut up now and let the photographs do the talking!

Gracie
Tweet
I met Martin and Zoe many years ago through roller derby.
At the time they weren't together, they were best friends, so when they announced their relationship we I squealed with happiness. Then after that, little Gracie came along and I swooned at her cute little face. So when Martin asked about booking me for a shoot for the three of them I was so excited!
Gracie was an absolute star during the shoot and I'm sure you'll agree, her pout is to be envied!

Wedding Inspiration
Tweet
Being a wedding photographer gets quite hectic, so any time that I have to collaborate with my amazing friends who are also within the industry is a great joy!
In April, myself, Ms Moo Make-up, Lucille's Locks and Booboo Kitty Couture got together to photograph a stylised wedding shoot along with some work by the wonderful GGs Pinup Couture. We had some amazing plans including woodland and Aislinn's horse but, unfortunately, the weather was not on our side so we had to abandon the location in favur of shooting in the studio.
Even though we didn't manage to carry out our full vision, I think we got some great images to show off our collective talents and why we always recommend each other to clients. We call ourselves the "Dream Team" because we not only work well together but our seperate businesses all come together to create a beautiful outcome.

Drew and Beth
Tweet
Sometimes marriage is a huge affair, but in the case of Drew and Beth, they didn't want all of the fuss and attention. So off they headed to to Barbados, and while the whole thing was gorgeous and beautiful, the photography didn't quite reflect their personalities.
As good friends of mine, when they got home I offered to shoot some wedding images for them more fitting to their lifestyle.
They're definitely different to the usual wedding images but perfect for them and so happy to be part of their marriage even if I wasn't there for the actual ceremony.

Marc and Laura - Simple and Stylish
Tweet
I've known Marc just over 12 years and Laura for 8 so imagine my surprise and excitement to find out that they were not only dating but engaged!
Catching up with them both was great, they wanted a small ceremony and reception so it was going to be a very relaxed affair.
The ceremony was lovely and funny then the reception was held at Laura's mum's house.
After such a relaxed day, the evening reception was something else. Loads of drinking and dancing
Such a wonderful day.

Barn and Aimee - Handmade Love
Tweet
At my first meeting with Aimee and Barn, the more they described their perfect wedding and I couldn't help but get excited about photographing it. There was a steampunk theme with elements of Assasins Creed with Alice in Wonderland and a secret woodland feel. Aimee was determined to make most of the elements of the wedding herself or source other parts through talented friends and family.
Following Aimee's updates leading up to the wedding was fantastic, chocolate skulls and buying trees, flavoured tea and boxes of wine.
Barn and Aimee completed the legal part of the marriage on the Friday in a small ceremony and then spent all of Friday afternoon and evening preparing the hall. Aimee's friends made an amazing job of dressing and lighting the hall. It was beautiful.
The morning of the wedding was quite hectic, final preparations of food and outfits but once the groom and groomsmen left for the venue, a nice calm spread over the house. Aimee got ready with the help of her bridesmaids and there was a beautiful moment while her mum helped her into the dress.
It was a beautiful day once we got to the Hoveringham Village Hall in Nottingham, the sun was shining and it was reflected in everyone's happy faces.
The ceremony was beautifully presided over by a friend of Aimee and Barn. I found out later that it was the first wedding ceremony that he had conducted but I couldn't tell at all.
The rest of the day was wonderfully fun, full of laughter. The evening brought cappoera, fire performers, glow sticks and lots of drinking.
I was lucky to be part of such a unique and wonderful handmade day.

Trav and El - Spring in Leicester
Tweet
I'd been looking forward to photographing the wedding of El and Trav for a long time. These guys are great together, I even had a little cry when they said their vows!
Great friends and an amazingly fun wedding. Odes to Elvis, Stone Roses and the "Madchester" scene with hints of leopard print, a pink cadillac and a cheese cake!
Enjoy!

Matt and Pernille in Copenhagen
Tweet
Last November I was fortunate enough to spend a little time in Copenhagen so I was thrilled to be invited back to photograph Matt and Pernille's wedding.
Matt, originally from Tamworth, moved to Copehagen to live with Pernille after she had finished her degree in Manchester. They both just wanted quite a quiet wedding and small party after, I was so excited when I found out they were having a Hawaii style party for the reception.
We arrived a few days before the big day for a little time to settle in, scope out the city and help the couple with the preparations. The gave us a taste of the traditional alcoholic drinks they would be serving at the wedding, Fernet Branca and GaJol, although I'm pretty sure they just wanted to see my face after the foul tasting shots!
While sight-seeing around the city, we found The Round Tower, a huge spiral tower and observatory in the centre of Copenhagen. The helixical walkway to the top was beautifully lit from the windows and the stunning views across the rooftops from the top were amazing. I realised that this would be the perfect place to photograph the couple shots after the ceremony!
On the day of the wedding, Pernille and I were up at 6am ready for the make-up artist while everyone else in the apartment dozed on. Coffee was definitely my friend that morning! Once the Groom and others were awake, we sent them to the local bakery for pastries for breakfast. I would be the size of a house if I had such amazing fresh food on my doorstep every morning!
After that we headed over to Copenhagen City Hall, a huge stunning building that we'd seen in our previous travels. The entrance hall was amazing filled with marble but where the actual ceremony took place was tiny! Everyone was smooshed into this small room with no seats where we all had to line the walls to fit in. I was amazed at how quick the ceremony was, the exchange of the rings isn't standard as it is in the UK so Matt and Pernille added it after they had signed the register. There were no blessings, speeches or readings and the whole thing took about fifteen minutes in total.
After a few group shots in city hall, Matt, Pernille and I took a wander to the Round Tower. In between being super cute, they were forever pulling silly faces at each other so it was really hard to stop laughing! Unfortunately, the weather was quite windy that day so we didn't take any shots at the top of the tower so after that we headed back. The newlyweds had organised a lunch with the family so I headed back for a quick lunch and a nap before the evening reception.
The evening went quite quickly, lots of drinking, dancing, laughing and a bar manned by the guests. Pernille got cake in Matt's face and I pulled my first ever pint. There are some crazy Danish marriage traditions, one where they picked Matt up, stole his shoes and cut the toes out of his socks... Don't ask because I don't know!
It was a long day but totally worth it.
